Pet Dragon Info:
Dougie - Rankin Dragon born September 2016
Hi all,

Any advice, hints or tips anyone can offer would be appreciated?
Proud mummy to Dougie, born in September 2016. Brought him home last Friday. Appears this little chap has stolen my heart ❤️.

He is still quite at the moment, I was told this is to be expected whilst he settles in. I haven't seen him eat, drink or poo. He is happy to be handled, loves to look out the window (appears he is a people watcher) then snuggles up to my neck, falls asleep when I stroke him.

Pet Dragon Info:
Rankins: Mitzi (F).
Beardies: Luca (M), Mocha (M)
Blue Tongue Skinks: Teal (F), Cinnamon (?)
Giant Mexican Horned Lizards: Linus (M), Louis (M)
Uromastyx: Brian (M), Chloe (F), Kora (F), Kami (M), Melody (F), Murray (M), Omar (M)
Hi there and welcome,

So glad to hear that he is settling in well and slowly adjusting to his home. Like most lizards Rankins hunt by sight, so having him in an area where there is a lot of activity (movement) is good. It will keep him stimulated.

The most important thing is to get their environment set up correctly and this forum contains many posts regarding setups. Just make sure that, in addition to a basking bulb he has a good UVB light. A small, shallow, dish of water (changed daily) is also good as they like to drink and bathe in it. Rankins are more insectivorous than Bearded Dragons, so their diet should be about 65% insects to 35% veggies and fruits.

Hope this helps.

Nest regards,
Mark
